About Us
We are a small kennel based in Houston, Texas concentrating on quality, health and temperament. Our dogs are pets first! We hope our site is helpful in your pursuit of Akitas. We are members of the Akita Club of America, the Lone Star Akita Club of Houston and the Texas Working Dog Association. We are active in showing in AKC conformation shows and in Akita Rescue. We breed for good health and temperaments. All our dogs are OFA’d and cerf’d.
Kyo-Ken Akitas was founded by Kathy Mills. Celine Garman and Kathy joined forces after Celine bought Kyo-Ken’s Tank of Dynamite, “Tank”. We co-own many of our dogs together including a Schipperke (see Tsunami Schipperkes). Celine and Kathy have been showing together for 4 years. We both subscribe to the philosophy of our dogs as pets first, show dogs second. We both love and admire this breed tremendously.

Kathy Mills
Kathy has been in Akitas for 15 years and has tremendous knowledge of the breed. She is a member in good standing of the Akita Club of America, the Lone Star Akita Club of Houston and the Texas Working Dog Association. She first fell in love with Akitas after seeing Fran Keyes with CH. OBJ's the Coal Miner in the Houston arenas. Her first Akita was Nikki. She first started showing with her second akita, Sasha. Kathy is one of those people who all animals love at first sight; she has that special touch. Though she doesn't get into the ring with the Akitas, she has been showing Warrior, our Schip, in the breed ring and recently got her first group placement! Look for Kathy in the Schipperke ring with Ch. Warrior. Kathy is a current board member for the Lone Star Akita Club.

Celine
Garman
Celine met her first Akita 9 years ago when her sister adopted a large, laid back boy named Keto. It was love at first sight! Three years later she got Rumer and decided she couldn’t have just one! She met Kathy when she bought Tank and soon become interested in conformation showing, and so she and Kathy joined forces with Drake. She is current President of the Lone Star Akita Club of Houston and is active in their rescue efforts.
